The Project

The PARTECIPA project

Public sociology, digital citizenship and civic participation in the Campania Region — an integrated ecosystem of training, action and dissemination for young people (aged 14–35).

A public sociology project for young people, communities and territories

PARTECIPA — Giovani Campania is a public sociology project promoted by the University of Salerno – DISUFF, with the support of the Regione Campania and of the National Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civil Service. It strengthens digital skills, civic participation, inclusion and dialogue among young people, institutions, associations and local communities.

It is not a stand-alone course, but a project ecosystem: an integrated system of online training (MOOC), action in local communities (labs), participatory action research and the production of accessible materials.

Official title: Public sociology, digital citizenship and civic participation in the Campania Region.

Objectives

PARTECIPA aims to strengthen, across the communities of Campania, young people’s skills to act as informed, critical and active citizens in the digital society and in civic life.

Digital skills and media literacy

Finding your way in the digital ecosystem, recognising disinformation, understanding algorithms and AI, taking part online critically and responsibly.

Civic participation

Learn about rights and participation tools, encourage engagement in public life and the co-design of civic micro-actions.

Inclusion and tackling inequalities

Valuing local educational settings, sport and cultural practices as levers of cohesion, with attention to the most fragile areas.

Public knowledge

Participatory action research, teaching materials, reports and open-access resources useful to communities, schools, associations and institutions.

Who it is for

The project is aimed primarily at young people in Campania aged 14 to 35. In particular:

Students who want to acquire digital and civic skills and experiment with participatory methodologies.

University students

People interested in public sociology, action research and community-based work.

The method: participatory action research

Young people are not just recipients of the activities: they are co-researchers, co-designers and co-producers of knowledge. The programme is organised in four phases.

Listening and mapping

Active listening to local communities: needs assessment, reading the local context, open data analysis.

Online training (MOOC)

The theoretical and methodological foundations: public sociology, digital citizenship, sport, co-design.

Action in local communities

Labs with partner associations: workshops, meetings, civic micro-proposals and project work.

Public sharing of results

Reports, project work, datasets and policy briefs made public and accessible as a common asset.
