COOKIE POLICY
Extended information notice on the use of cookies and tracking technologies, pursuant to art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003, as amended), Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the Italian Data Protection Authority’s Guidelines on cookies of 10 June 2021.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that visited websites send to the user’s device, where they are stored to be sent back to the same websites on the next visit. Similar technologies (e.g. local storage, pixels) can perform similar functions. Based on their purpose, cookies are classified as technical cookies (necessary for the operation of the site or the provision of a requested service) and profiling/statistical cookies, for which the user’s prior consent is required.
2. Data Controller
The data controller is theUniversity of Salerno (UNISA),
acting through the DISUFF Department / DiSoSW Lab, within the framework of the project
PARTECIPA — Giovani Campania.
Registered office: Via Giovanni Paolo II, 132 — 84084 Fisciano (SA), Italy

3. Our approach to consent (prior blocking + Consent Mode v2)
The site adopts a prior-blocking: on the first visit no statistics or third-party scripts are loaded until the user makes a choice. At the first level, the banner displays two buttons of equal visual prominence — “Accept all” and “Reject all” — as well as the option to “Customise” the individual categories.
The site also uses Google Consent Mode v2: before any activation,
the consent status for analytics_storage and ad_storage is set to
denied (denied). Google Analytics 4 is loaded and starts collecting statistics
only after explicit consent to the “Statistics” category. The banner is managed
by a self-hosted and purpose-built, with no third-party libraries or cloud services used to manage consent.
4. Categories of cookies used
- a) Strictly necessary cookies (always active)
- Essential for browsing, authentication to the reserved area and storing the cookie choice. They do not require consent (Article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code).
- b) Functional cookies
- Store user preferences, such as the selected language, to improve the browsing experience.
- c) Statistics cookies (require consent)
- Google Analytics 4, activated only upon consent, to collect aggregated statistics on site usage with anonymised IP addresses. No advertising profiling cookie is set.

6. Third-party cookies and transfers outside the EU
The only third-party provider involved is Google LLC (Google Analytics 4), activated only upon consent. This tool involves a transfer of data to the United States, on the basis of the Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) adopted by the European Commission (Article 46 GDPR). More information: business.safety.google/gdprcontrollerterms/.
All other processing takes place within the European Union (hosting by Serverplan S.r.l., Italy).
7. How to manage or withdraw consent
Users can change or withdraw their choices at any time via the link “Cookie preferences” in the footer of every page of the site, which reopens the consent management panel. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
It is also possible to manage or delete cookies already installed via the settings of your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). Disabling technical cookies may affect some site functionality.
8. Data subject rights and references
To exercise the rights set out in Articles 15-22 GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent) and for any other information on the processing of personal data, please refer to thePrivacy Notice.
It is always possible to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority — in Italy the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) (www.garanteprivacy.it).
